ABOUT THE BRAND
Nina Ricci is a fashion house founded by Maria "Nina" Ricci and her son Robert in Paris in 1932. The innate elegance of the Italian-born designer quickly led her to establish herself as one of the leading fashion designers on the French scene.
Robert, who initially focused only on the financial aspects, had an insight in 1945. At the end of the war, fashion designers were in demand to reestablish the connection between women and fashion, thus contributing to post-war restoration. It was Robert Ricci who proposed to Lucien Lelong, president of the French Chambre, an exhibition of 150 mannequins from 40 Parisian maisons to be displayed at the Louvre. The exhibition received such widespread acclaim that it was sent on tour throughout Europe and the United States.
It was thanks to this personal success that Robert began to make his way within the Nina Ricci label, creating his first fragrance, "Coeur Joie," and in 1948, "L'Air du Temps," which would become the Maison's flagship fragrance, still considered one of the top five in the world today.
