A collaborative creation by RIGARDS and Ziggy Chen, the RG1943ZC - codenamed “Moon Owl” - is a study in nocturnal symbolism, sculptural form and exquisite detail.
Inspired by the mystery of the night, the intuitive wisdom traditionally associated with the owl and the changing phases of the moon, the design brings these elements together through a refined oval silhouette. The owl has long been part of RIGARDS’ visual language, first explored in the Nite Owl of 2019, while the frame’s layered rims suggest a delicate arrangement of crescent moons.
The ethereal mood of the design is enhanced by the hand-finished patina, with each frame individually painted by RIGARDS artisans. The result is a subtle variation of colour and texture that makes every piece slightly different.
The magnetic sunglass clip adds another dimension to the design. Its streamlined, sculptural lines draw from the language of Streamline Moderne, echoing an earlier RIGARDS × Ziggy Chen collaboration while developing the partnership’s distinctive vocabulary in a new direction.
A highly considered piece that moves effortlessly between masculine and feminine aesthetics, where craftsmanship, symbolism and experimentation come together in a distinctly otherworldly expression.
